TPI works on the principle of Stoke''s law. TPI is designed to reduce the turbulance on water which maximises the rise of oil to the surface. It allows the effluent to pass through a plate pack which decreases the turbulence in flow and helps the oil to rise above surface. From the surface it spills in the oil tank which is integrated in the TPI tank. The oil free water eventually comes out from the outlet. It has capacity of removal of oil upto 99%.
Oily wastes and rain water run-off
streams at power stations, rail yards,
maintenance depots, transport depots,
industrial sites, waste treatment
facilities, oil storage sites and onshore
treatment. In fact, any place where free oil contamination is a problem. The units are often used as pre-treatment to further processes such as dissolved or induced air flotation, electrocoagulation and/or biological treatment. They should be selected where especially stringent effluent requirements have been specified, in environmentally sensitive areas or where the risk of oil contamination to further processes would have significant effects.
